But first, we take off with a bit of poetry by The last Poets - Nubian II - followed by The Blackbyrds and the tune Unfinished business taken from the album of the same name. After that, we go funky with Bernard "Pretty" Purdie's Funky Donkey and then we listen to The voices of East Harlem and their song Right to be free. Then the trip changes direction and we hang out in Europe for a few songs. We stop in Belgium first with The Belgian Afrobeat Association and their crazy tune O Bruni blues taken from the album The King is among us. Then we fly to the Netherlands to listen to another tune by Mdungu - AfroWhat? and we finish our European tour with The Imperial Tiger Orchestra from Switzerland and the Ethiojazzy track Harer Dire Dewa. As the mood changes we decide to go to Ethiopia to listen to different styles, starting with Assèlètch Ashiné and Gètenesh Kebrèt singing Amlak Abèt Abèt - from the Ethiopian Urban Music volume 1 compilation and Set Alamenem singing Girma Beyene - from The best of Ethiopiques compilation. For the landing, we listen to the feel-good song Groovy kind of day by the Fatback Band - enjoy the trip, thanks for listening!

After that, we find mr. Harry Mosco, from The Funkees, with “I Feel Funky", and the group Mombasa with the instrumental song "Masai", from 1975's album African Rhythm & Blues. More music: Lee Fields & The Expression, with “Love Comes and Goes“, from the LP My Worlds, edited some weeks ago by Truth & Sou, and Leeds' combo The New Mastersounds playing “Kuna Matata“, from 2008's Plug & Play LP. Then, we move to France, to start discovering the group Malinga 5 and his LP Rock Africa, edited in 1976; this week we will listen the track "Good Time".
Then we stop to take on board Jordi Herreruela, director of the Festival Cruilla de Cultures, of Mataró, Barcelona, that will chat with us about the event. We will have also an advance of the next week concert of Hugh Masekela, with "The Boys Doin' it" in a remix version of Detroit's producer Carl Craig. We stay in US with two songs of Sarah Webster Fabio: “Sweet Song“ and “Jujus/Alchemy of the blues" from the 76's homonimous LP. Finally, for the landing, mr. Salah Ragab and the Cairo Jazz Band presents "Neveen".
Enjoy this flight and come back soon on the flying carpet. And dont forget your sunglasses.

TheFlyingCarpet Radioshow # 36 (19jun09) **dancing on the carpet**

TheFlyingCarpet start this week with Les Frères Smith and his song “La marche des Smiths", from his first 7", and after we go directly to the center of the dancefloor, where Konono N.1 is playing live taking the assistance to a state of trance. Then, we stay on the dancefloor with our guest, Nox dj, cofounder of Loud Futureground. Some disco tracks, à parfum of funk, a touch of jazz, just a dose of boogie and some old school house vibes: the discoball is turning and the carpet's crew is moving. We will listen The Blackbirds, wtih "Future Children, Future Hopes", The Central Line's track "Walking in the Sunshine" and Herbie Hancock, in full disco period, with "You Bet Your Love" . Second run: we enter in Cerrone's paradise, with the track "Take Me", followed by D'Train's "Your the One for Me" and Blaze "We All Must Live Together".
For the landing, we will listen Odissey and his version of the Lamont Dozier's classic "Going Back To My Roots".
Enjoy the flight and keep dancing!
