TheFlyingCarpet today is dedicated to psichedelic & rock guitars in Africa.
We start the flight from Nigeria, with Blo's "Chant To Mother Earth" from Chapter One LP. We cross the continent to go to Zambia where Chris Zebby Tembo & Ngozi Family recorded "Coffin Maker" and "Fisherman" in 1970. Back to Nigeria, we listen the Ofege, with "Gbe Mi Lo" and Gasper Laval with "Kita Kita".
Nest stop Cotonou, Benin, where the T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo present two song: "Kou Tche Kpo So O", from , and "Se Tche We Djo Mon" from Analog Africa's LP The Vodoun Effect Funk & Sato from Benin's Obscure Labels.
A quick stop in Cameroun, just to listen Manu Dibango's "Pepe Soup", and back again to Nigeria, with the Hykkers's "I want a Break Thru'"and two songs of Ofo The Black Company
"Alla Wakbarr" and "Beautiful Daddy", from the same 7".
To conclude the trip, a track that had nothing to do with rock, but that influenced heavily some prominent rock artist in US: we are speaking of Babatunde Olatunji and "Jin-Go-Lo-Ba".
Prepare your head to move up & down with the sound and enjoy the excursion.
