TheFlyingCarpet is back. This week's flight is sunny and quiet. We start with the groove of The Lafayette Afro Rock Band with the song "Red Match Box", from the LP AFON.
We follow the funky mood with the Miami's drummer Herman Kelly & Life playing " Dance to the Drummer's Beat", from the '78's LP Percussion explosion, and we move to Africa to listen the father of african funk, Geraldo Pino, with the Heartbeaters, playing his panafrican anthem "Africans Must Unite" from Heavy Heavu Heavy LP.
We move to Chicago to discover Mandingo Griot Society, a project of a kora player Foday Musa Suso, featuring Don Cherry, to listen two tracks of the homonimous LP : "Africa" and "Sounds from the Bush", both from 1979.
We move to Europe, where we listen "Global Party" of Jimi Tenor & Kabu Kabu, from their last album 4th Dimension. A quick stop to Canada, to listen The Souljazz Orchestra's "Kapital", from the LP Manifesto. And finally, we close with Dewey Redman's "Unknown Tongue" from the '79's Musics album.
Fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the flight!
