TheFlyingCarpet Radioshow #20 (20feb09)
February 20, 2009 09:56 AM PST
TheFlyingCarpet arrive at the 20th excursion. We start the flight from Nigeria, with Fred Fisher and his song "Asa-Sa", and we follow to S.Francisco discovering the very interesting Aphrodesia's album Lagos by Bus, with two tracks: "Holy Ghost Invasion" and "Every Day". We come back to Eruope to start listening the wonderful 4th Dimension, the last work of Jimi Tenor & Kabu Kabu. The track we choose today is "Floating Orange". Floating as a flying carpet. We are definitly ready to meet the Steve Reid Ensemble, with the track "Daxaar": massive! Form a great drummer to another: Art Blakey, here with the Jazz Messengers, playing "Night in Tunisia". A classic that we love particularly to celebrate the 20th edition. Last stop of todays trip: Etiopia. We start with Mahmoud Ahmed, and "Kulun Mankwalesh", and we finishing with the master Mulatu Astatké, with "Yekatit", from the wonderful L'Arome Vinyl “Ethiojazz: Mulatu Astatke“.
