TheFlyingCarpet is back, as usual every friday.
We start this trip from NY with Exit 9's song "Jive Man" from his only LP Straight Up, edited in 1975 by Brunswick Record. We follow the flight with Tony Allen's “Afro Disco Beat“, from his 77's LP Progress, and with Osibisa's “Happy Children”, form homonimous LP of 1973. We maintain the route with the legendary french group The Lafayette Afro Rock Band and his song “Djungi”, from the Malik LP, of 1975.
To 70's taday? We flight in the time to meet The Souljazz Orchestra with "The Blind Leading The Blind“, form 2007's LP Freedom No Go Die. But we are nostalgic today and we come back to the 70's, precisly in Benin, where we meet the ”Tout Puissant“ Orchestra Poly-Rythmo, with the 10 minutes really powerfull song “Ne te fâches pas", from the wonderfoul Soundway's compilation The Kings of Benin Urban Groove, 1972-1980. On n'est pas fâchés! Now we are tout puissants, so we move forward to 2008, where we meet the Whasington DC band Chopteeth, with “Do Days”, from their first LP. Finally, we arrive at our destination, as usual, but before to leave the carpet, check the Marlena Shaw's classic "Woman of the Ghetto“.
We hope you will enjoy the trip on the flying carpet.
See you soon for more memorables flights.
